Honey
is collected by pressing or squeezing the comb. Blotting and blending of honey
is done manually.Process of honey collection When combs are filled with honey
and capped over, those are taken from the hive and the bees are removed from
combs. The thin film of wax covering the cells of the comb is then shaved off
with a sharp knife. After the combs are uncapped, they are put in the honey
extractor and revolved at a high speed. An artificial bee hive The honey is
poured out of the comb by centrifugal force exerted against the sides of the
extractor. Then the combs are reversed, and the other surface is emptied.
Finally, the combs are returned to the hive to be filled again by the bees.
Commercial practice Commercial bee-keeping in Bangladesh is still in its
infancy. Some successful beekeepers move to those areas where nectar-producing
plants abound. Honey that is bottled immediately it has been extracted may set
very hard in the jar and be difficult to remove. To avoid this first store it
in honey buckets and when it is required warm it gently until it is runny
enough to bottle.
The best known honey in Bangladesh is Mustard
honey. Mustard is grown in many districts of Bangladesh as an oilseed crop.
When the supers are full of capped honey they are ready for extraction but
before we have to bring them home ,must remove the bees from them. This can be
done in a number of ways
- Using a bee escape of some sort - Porter, Canadian etc.
- Using a 'fume' board' to drive the bees down into the brood nest
- Brushing the bees from each individual comb
- Using a mechanical blower to blow the bees out of the supers.
Here two videos are given showing collection and extraction technique of honey:

EXCILLENT JOB. I THINK IT WILL HELP THE RESEARCHERS.
